Ubiquitous computing is a software on electronic devices that allows the information surrounding a user to be collected.
One of the technological objectives of any company is to improve the user experience and the quality of use of its environment. For this, ubiquitous computing software is used that improves user interaction anytime, anywhere.
The Innova Project arises to alleviate the need for a Software environment that ensures quality in the use of ubiquitous computing systems.
Financed by the General Directorate for Innovation, Technological Development and Industrial Entrepreneurship of the Ministry of Innovation, Industry, Tourism and Commerce of the Government of Cantabria and by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) through the Operational Program FEDER 2014-2020 of Cantabria, its main objective is to collect interaction data, since they are key for adaptation to the user’s context.
This software stores information from the geospatial context, such as user regions of interest, and temporal, such as the duration or regularity of interactions. In this way, you can build models with behavioral patterns that allow you to identify the profiles into which a community of users is segmented and anticipate their hypothetical actions.
Ubiquitous Computing Characteristics
One of the main characteristics of ubiquitous computing is the possibility of making use at at any time of devices or applications that exchange information with the environment. This has changed the traditional way of interacting with systems: while traditionally the user had to explicitly execute the actions that would allow them to meet their objectives at all times, currently proposals based on this paradigm are committed to interaction environments made up of sensors and small devices that allow to identify for themselves the context and the purposes that the user proves to have.
Smart environments made up of context-sensitive systems that help solve user needs through predictive actions, geolocation and personalized recommendations.
Furthermore, the importance of software quality is increasingly decisive, so the project aims to build a software environment that can be adapted and integrated into context-sensitive systems to automatically assess its quality in use. The software environment will apply Artificial Intelligence techniques to automatically generate specifications that model the context of system-user interaction. This allows the automation of the evaluation and optimization process of the quality in use, minimizing the personnel costs.
AXPE and Ubiquitous Computing
Projects of this type are in full swing of research and interest, and the implantation of systems of this type makes it foresee that companies in the technology sector must begin to adapt our services so as not to become obsolete.
It’s a priority to generate solutions that automate systems that interact with the user. In this line of reinvention from the AXPE Group,at our headquarters in Cantabria, an independent software environment has been developed, uncoupled from any embedded system. This allows its exploitation to automate evaluation processes regardless of the technologies used in its construction.
This project, as we have already mentioned, has received aid co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through the 2014-2020 ERDF Operational Program in Cantabria through the INNOVA 2018 grants and the logos of the Ministry.
